In an effort to make cancer patients feel comfortable and better about themselves, two Delhi schoolboys have designed unique caps that completely covers their head post-chemo.?
According to The?New Indian Express, the two brothers came up with the idea after they witnessed their own grandmother battle cancer.?
Speaking to the express Samrath Nath said, "We couldn¡¯t find any caps designed in a manner that could cover the head properly and make naani look and feel good. We got some from abroad through friends but they were made of polyester and she always complained of itching. We felt sad to see her in the condition."
¡°As it is the patients are already under so much stress, and to see the physical appearance going downwards is something which affects their psyche more,¡± he says. The boys have seen their aunt (who also diagnosed with cancer)?go through the same agony of not being able to find a comfortable cap.?
The two brothers decided to manufacture cotton caps that not look good but also give the patients comfort. According to The New Indian Express, with a little help from their father who works with the textile industry, they were able to?approach other businessmen and corporates for promoting the product.?
Chemocaps
They?held the first distribution camp at AIIMS in New Delhi in April 2019 and till today have already distributed caps to over 2,000 cancer patients not just at AIIMS but also at three hospitals in Nagpur ¨C Rashtra Sant Tukdoji Regional Cancer Hospital & Research Centre, Cancer Care Hospital and Mandhaniya Cancer Hospital & Research Centre.?
The two are now also trying to rope in more of their schoolmates at their Sanskriti School, Chankyapuri in their initiative and have also launched a webpage called chemocaps to sell their products.??
