Telangana has launched a ground-breaking effort to encourage responsible driving and road safety by providing significant discounts of up to 90% on traffic tickets.
This audacious move attempts to encourage compliance with traffic laws and regulations while lessening residents' financial burden.
On Tuesday, the Telangana government released a notification enabling residents to settle outstanding?challans?for a fraction of their original cost.?
The government has instituted a programme granting individuals 60 to 90 percent reductions on their traffic challan orders.
"Telangana State, Hyderabad has stated that e-Challan pendency is in huge numbers in recent years and many vehicle owners have not paid e-Challans due to the Covid-19 pandemic," the decision read.
Numerous traffic challans were issued at the same time that contact and non-contact enforcement methods were used.
It is challenging to clear the massive pendency.
The government would provide an 80% discount on two- and three-wheeler automobiles as part of the programme.
On the other hand, buses operated by the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) will receive a 90% discount.?
On challans issued for heavy motor vehicles, such as trucks, and light motor vehicles, such as cars, the reduction will be sixty percent.
The Congress party, which recently took control of the state, made pledges in its election manifesto, and the discount on traffic tickets is being implemented by those promises.?
Vehicle owners must check any outstanding challans against their cars and submit the discounted payment online by going to the Telangana?traffic e-challan website, per the instructions.
The programme will run from Tuesday, December 26, until January 10, 2024.

Owners will only be required to pay 10% of the total sum due; the remaining 90% will be forgiven.?
RTC drivers have also been granted the same relaxation.?
Eighty percent of the total sum of the challan has been waived for two- and three-wheel vehicles.?
The refund is 60% for cars and other light motor vehicles, and it is 60% for trucks and other large motor vehicles.?
