When it comes to 'jugaad', nobody can pull it off the way Indians do! A couple of days back, a video of a farmer went viral on social media. The video showed the farmer sitting on a device, probably a bike that is attached to a coconut tree and upon pressing a button, the device goes up in a controlled motion, making it easier for him to pick coconuts.
The video was shared on Twitter with a caption ¡®When you want to be a bike racer but becomes a farmer due to parental pressure.'

The invention floored people on Twitter and one of them is the chairman of Mahindra and Mahindra group, Anand Mahindra. Looking at the invention, Mahindra praised the farmer, Ganapathi Bhat.
Bhat hails from Sajipamooda village of Bantwal, a region between Mangaluru and Puttur districts of Karnataka.
Mahindra took to Twitter and tagged the President of Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd Farm Equipment Sector and suggested him to put a team to have a closer look at the invention so that they can market the machine as a part of their Farm Solutions portfolio.
He also praised the efforts of the farmer and said that the invention was a very cool one. He further added that the device appears to be very effective and is elegantly designed with minimum weight.
Bhat earlier told ANI, ¡®It's simple innovation,climber(60-80kg) can climb up to 80 trees using litres of petrol on avg. Gave priority to safety while developing it.¡¯
Talking about jugaad, a month ago, Anand Mahindra tweeted a video of a farmer attempting to shift the husk in his field after a harvest. While most farmers normally do that with their hands, this guy modified his tractor and added a khatiya (cot) to do all the hardwork.
No one can compete with Indians when it comes to doing jugaad. Here is the video of the ¡®Khatiya-vator¡¯:
It is a fact that farmers in Southern India face a greater risk of falling to death while climbing the palm trees. If the invention will be made readily available it will eliminate the risk. We hope that Mahindra and Mahindra make this machine available in markets soon and give the palm farmers a new harvesting solution.
