Amid the ongoing legal dispute between the late actress Barbie Hsu's family and her ex-husband Wang Xiaofei, their children are facing health challenges. A report from Kbizoom via 163 News reveals that the conflict over inheritance and a 35 million TWD debt has been temporarily put on hold due to a family health crisis. Barbie Hsu's two children, Wang Hsi-yueh and Wang Hsi-lin, are currently hospitalized after falling.?
Upon arriving in Taiwan on February 21, Wang Xiaofei and his wife Mandy visited the children and quickly noticed that something was wrong. The kids appeared lethargic, fatigued, and feverish, prompting Wang to rush them to the emergency room late at night. This development has brought a temporary halt to the legal proceedings, which have been ongoing amidst a highly publicized and contentious legal battle between Wang Xiaofei and the Meteor Garden actress' family.
The report further cited a leaked message from a nurse at Taipei Children's Hospital, revealing that Barbie Hsu and Wang Xiaofei's children were treated for severe coughs and high fevers, receiving 18 hours of intravenous fever-reducing treatment.
After the report of Barbie Hsu's children's hospitalization broke out, fans of the late actress expressed concern. On the Chinese platform Weibo, users are questioning how her family missed the signs of the children's deteriorating health.
Some also accused Barbie Hsu's relatives of neglecting the children's well-being while focusing on the inheritance dispute with Wang Xiaofei.
This is not the first time the family has faced criticism, as they were previously condemned for allegedly neglecting Barbie Hsu's worsening condition when she fell ill in Japan, leading to fatal pneumonia complications.
Wang Xiaofei is facing a massive debt of approximately 250 million RMB (nearly 35 million USD), which dates back to the time when he was still married to Barbie Hsu.
The debt is reportedly linked to the construction of SHotel, for which the businessman borrowed substantial amounts from Barbie Hsu, including 26 million TWD (around 800,000 USD) and 10 million NTD (about 305,000 USD). He also took out mortgage loans and installment payments for a Taipei apartment.
The late actress' mother is now demanding that Wang Xiaofei repay the full amount on behalf of her late daughter. Furthermore, she is seeking overdue fees, compensation for emotional distress, and unpaid child support, holding him accountable for both old and new debts.
Barbie Hsu passed away on February 2, 2025, in Tokyo, Japan, at the age of 48 due to complications related to pneumonia.
