A nanny's job is to take care of children and one woman in the US went above and beyond, and saved the lives of two kids.
Marina Fuentes, nanny to two children aged two and seven, jumped in front of a speeding car to push the kids out of harm's way.
The incident took place when a suspect driving a stolen vehicle rammed it down the sidewalk on 18th Street NW on September 15, reported NBC Washington.?
Now admitted to the hospital, Fuentes told the news channel that even after she recovers from her injuries, she believes that she is forever impacted by the incident.She said,?"I feel IĄ¯m not going to have the same quality of life after this."
She added that she felt like her life has ended.??
According to a report by People magazine, the three of them were walking down the sidewalk when the suspect drove by in the stolen car, owned by a delivery food driver, Denis Miranda. The car sped towards the nanny and the kids who were on the sidewalk. In a heartbeat, Fuentes jumped in front of the car to protect the children. She said,?"I got in front of the little girl, and I hear a bump in the back."
Even though Fuentes broke some bones after the collision, she did not let go of the children. She reportedly picked up the stroller with the baby and wrapped her arms around it.
Footage of the suspect fleeing from the site has been released by the Metropolitan Police Department. Based on their statement, the vehicle was left unattended by its owner, Denis Miranda, and the suspect tried to flee as soon as he entered the car. After losing control while getting away, the suspect rammed the car into Miranda and Fuentes.?
Two?GoFundMe?pages have also been set up for Fuentes and Miranda to help them out with their mortgage, medical expenses and other living costs.
