With many information technology organizations switching to a hybrid strategy, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has urged its staff to spend at least three days per week in the office, ending the complete work-from-home model that had been adopted due to the pandemic.
Senior TCS employees have been working from the office, and clients are also coming into the TCS offices, the company stated in an email to its employees.
"Senior leaders of TCS have been working from TCS offices for a while now, and our customers are also visiting TCS offices Your respective managers will now roster you to work from the TCS office for at least 3 days in a week," reads the official mail.
It also mandates that managers develop a roster and that employees spend at least three days a week working from the office.?
"Adherence to rostering is mandatory and will be tracked...any noncompliance will be taken seriously, and administrative measures may be applied," the email read.
A TCS spokesman explained the new mandate to the Times of India, claiming that it is following the company's "vision to transition to 25X25 model" and is striving to return the employees to the office eventually.
Employees have been recommended to get in touch with their managers to learn about the arrangements made for their projects in line with the new working plan, although they have not yet been given a deadline to return to the office.
A TCS spokeswoman told Moneycontrol that the rostering will be based on the project's needs and that new hires and seasoned employees will be called to the office.
TCS stated that a phased shift from Secure Borderless Workspaces (SBWS), which allows most of its workers to work from the office on various days of the week, to a more hybrid model had started. The company stated that it strengthened its internal rules to make this shift easier.
