Twitter is changing rapidly. With Elon Musk taking over the company, Twitter is set for a total revolution. However, during such big revamps, it¡¯s always the employees who end up burning the midnight oil.?
Recently, the Internet was all up in arms after an employee at Twitter posted a click of his boss, Esther Crawford, who was captured sleeping on the floor of her office in a sleeping bag. Evan posted the picture on Twitter with the caption, ¡°When you need something from your boss at elon twitter.¡± Crawford later retweeted the post as she wrote, ¡°When your team is pushing round the clock to make deadlines sometimes you #SleepWhereYouWork.¡±?
Although the post was made in good humour, the internet was not happy with the situation. Soon, people were accusing the duo of bashing the company, while others were angry at their blatant support for the unhealthy working conditions. The fire spread to such a peak that Crawford decided to speak up.?
She added to her previous post and penned, ¡°Since some people are losing their minds I'll explain: doing hard things requires sacrifice (time, energy, etc). I have teammates around the world who are putting in the effort to bring something new to life so it's important to me to show up for them & keep the team unblocked.¡±
Since some people are losing their minds, I'll explain: doing hard things requires sacrifice (time, energy, etc). I have teammates around the world who are putting in the effort to bring something new to life, so it's important to me to show up for them and keep the team unblocked.??
The Twitter employee went on to hype up her colleagues and company as she shared how the changes behind the scenes take effort and energy: ¡°I work with amazingly talented & ambitious people here at Twitter and this is not a normal moment in time. We are less than 1wk into a massive business & cultural transition. People are giving it their all across all functions: product, design, eng, legal, finance, marketing, etc.¡±
She further explained her tweet, which was assumed to be a dig at the company by users online, ¡°We are #OneTeam and we use the hashtag #LoveWhereYouWork to show it, which is why I retweeted with #SleepWhereYouWork -- a cheeky nod to fellow Tweeps. We've been in the midst of a crazy public acquisition for months but we keep going & I'm so proud of our strength & resilience.¡±
Crawford also shared that her?family was supportive of her decision to prioritise her?work?when such notable chances are at stake, "I love my family and I¡¯m grateful they understand that there are times where I need to go into overdrive to grind and push in order to deliver. Building new things at Twitter's scale is very hard to do. I'm lucky to be doing this work alongside some of the best people in tech."??
While many were hopping in to stand by Crawford, there were still those who thought such working conditions were not justifiable. Folks on the Internet were also confused by the posts, as they noted, "I can¡¯t tell if this is a tongue-in-cheek joke, or actually serious. Either way this is not normal or sane in a work environment."
