In an alarming incident, two robbers fled with the automatic firearm of a policeman in Uttar Pradesh. The robbery took place near Mathura-Bareilly highway in Kasganj district.
According to a Times of India report, the police have formed five teams, including a special operation group and a surveillance unit, to recover the weapon and catch the robbers.?
The report says that the two robbers attempted to break open the lock of a store but were confronted by two policemen under the city police station area. Constables Ravi Kumar and Abhishek Pratap Singh chased the robbers as they tried to escape from the cops. During the commotion, one of the robbers snatched the INSAS rifle of Abhishek and attacked both of them with a rod which they used to break the lock and jumped into a car and ran away.?
The entire incident was caught on a CCTV camera that the police has retrieved now.?
"We have retrieved the CCTV footage of the entire area. Special teams have been formed to recover the weapon and arrest the accused. We have got some crucial leads in the case. The accused will be tracked soon," the report quoted Botre Rohan Pramod, Kasganj SP as saying.
