Work from home (WFH) used to be a 'once in a while' kind of thing we liked to do, back in the day. However, with our entire life being dictated by the novel coronavirus, WFH is now the norm.
With the advancement in technology and the digital space becoming the primary source of almost everything, people are now working from the comfort of their home. However, as much as it sounds like the ideal thing - because who doesn't want to work in their pyjamas and drink their morning coffee in bed - most of us do not have the proper set-up required to work from home.
Office chairs and desks exist for a reason and our home furniture is not exactly suited for work. So, without even realising it, in the name of comfort, our posture has been completely compromised.?
In order to ensure this does not become a chronic problem for us all, an event is being hosted, that might help with our back problems.
The event will be conducted by?Superna Yamuna Chopra, a Yoga Acharya and Life Coach. Being in this industry for almost 15 years now, Superna studied yoga at the international Sivananda organisation and has been a teacher of the same in India as well as abroad.
Without even realising it, we are making very basic mistakes regarding our posture while working from home. Superna will help people avoid the same, so that their health is not compromised during these trying times.
1. More often than not, our back is hunched while we work from home. Make a conscious effort to ensure you are sitting up straight so that your hunch does not cause any problems later.
2. Having a hunched back leads to lower back pain and stiffness. One needs to keep the spine erect and always sit straight.?
3. Taking a break and walking around is extremely important. Lack of movement leads to poor blood circulation. It is highly recommended to stand up every half hour and take a walk and stretch out your muscles.
4. Not sitting up straight also leads to our neck protruding forward which impacts our spine alignment. This also leads to tension and stiffness in the neck.?
5. In order to avoid that, one should rotate their neck clockwise and anti-clockwise a few times a day.
6. Our shoulders also tend to get tense and we need to draw them down and back every now and then.
7. Lastly, too much screen time leads to weak and tired eyes, and one should do a few eye exercises as well.
If you are facing the same troubles and would like to rectify what you are doing wrong while working from home and live a healthier lifestyle, book your session with Superna here.?
