If something could wake me up from my deathbed, then it definitely would be a perfect plate of hot and steaming boiled momos. While I am sure any Delhiite would agree, this time it was not a Delhi native who endorsed the importance of a good plate of momos but a Bihar man?who was believed to be dead by his family.
Well, as bizarre as the whole thing sounds, it is actually quite real. Nishant Kumar, who mysteriously went missing back in January of this year, was found eating momos at a stall in Noida. Kumar is a resident of Dhruvganj, Navgachia. He went missing on January 31 from his in-laws' home in Gangania village of Sultanganj, Bhagalpur, Bihar.
Out of sheer luck, as claimed, Kumar was spotted gorging on a plate of momos in Noida by his brother-in-law, who was originally accused of kidnapping the man. The incident unravelled in Noida¡¯s Sector 50 when a momo seller was evicting a man who appeared to be a beggar with a long, unkempt beard and moustache. The man was also wearing dirty clothes. Seeing the situation, the brother-in-law stepped in and told the seller to give the man some momos while he would fend for the bill.
After a while, the strange man was questioned about his identity. Nishant shared his name and revealed where he had lived, which utterly shocked the brother-in-law. No one on either side of Nishant¡¯s family had any idea that the man thought to be dead would finally be found in such a state and in such an unusual situation.
The brother-in-law quickly contacted all the family members after feeding Nishant momos. Soon the police were called, and then Nishant was taken to the Sector 113 police station in Noida for further inquiry. The police informed them that a case for Nishant had been filed at the Sultanganj police station.
The two men switched gears and reached the station, where, after proper documentation, Nishant was handed over to the brother-in-law. Nishant, who was once an employee at Kotak Mahindra and owned a flat with his wife, Pallavi, in Mumbai, was subjected to a life on the street for the past few months after his disappearance.
Police officers mentioned how they had seen him survive on the streets by begging for food for about 15 days. Now, Nishant is with his family, and his reappearance is sure to clear out any suspicions about the brother-in-law and also clear out the bad blood between the two sides of his family.
