One cannot imagine the pain and humiliation of a person who might have to cancel their wedding just four days before the event. But you might not feel the same for this woman whose emails to her friends and family will probably shock you.
Reportedly a woman named, Susan, from Canada, had to cancel her wedding because her guests refused to pay $1,500 (Rs 1,06,000) that she demanded in cash from EACH of them.?
A Twitter user shared the screenshots from a Facebook which begins like, ¡®Dear friends, it comes with great sadness that I am announcing the cancellation of the wedding. I apologize?for cancelling only four days beforehand.Unfortunately, [fiance] and I have broken up due to some recent and irreparable problems. We have decided to end our relationship and not go forth with any future proceedings.¡¯
If you read further into the post, it won't be hard to deduce that she was money-minded.
She feels the need to mention the price of the ring her fiance put on her finger when she was 18 (Why is that piece of information important?).
?
Further in the post she says that she, along with her fiance, managed to save $15k for their wedding but at the suggestion of a psychic, wanted to go for the $60,000 'dream wedding'.
¡®I specifically, I mean specifically asked for cash gifts. How could we have our wedding that we dreamed of without proper funding? We'd sacrificed so much and only asked each guest for around $1,500. My maid of honour pledged $5,000 along with her planning services. We tearfully thanked and accepted. My ex's family offered to contribute $3,000.¡¯
"So our request for $1,500 for all other guests was not f*****g out of the ordinary. Like, we made it clear. If you couldn't contribute, you weren't invited to our exclusive wedding. It's once and a life time party [sic]".
"After sending out the invitations, only eight guests RSVP'd with their check of $1,500."
?
I am surprised that even one guest RSVPed to this outrageous demand.?
She with all the entitlement in the world, she asks people in her post what is '$1000-1500'? This amounts to 1,06,000 in Indian rupees. Now I do not know how rich people in that part of the world, but for Rs 1 lakh, here you can buy a top model scooty, throw in Rs 25,000 more you can get a nano. Forget vehicles, some Indian marriages can also happen in Rs 1,00,000.?
When her fiance suggested a marriage in Vegas, she admittedly laughed in his face. He left her after that and money or no money, the marriage had to be called off.?
Now here is the thing - no one in their right minds would spend at lakh rupees as a gift at a wedding. In India, we sometimes recycle gifts at weddings. One feels like they are doing a favor to the married couple if they put in anything more than Rs 2100 in the 'lifafa'.?
Spending outrageous amount of money on weddings anyway does not make sense to me and this woman¡¯s insistence of having that and not even realising how elite her demand is, seems unbelievable. It is one thing to spend your own money on your wedding it is completely another to force others to do the same, and the judge them if they refuse.
