A dog in Texas miraculously survived a 70-foot fall from a cliff, and an emergency medical servicecalled the dog's rescue a "scary story with a happy, feel-goodending."
The dog named Stout, who was off-leash and had fallen off a cliff near the Pennybacker Bridge Overlook in Austin, was rescued by Special Operations Training Captain R Luddy, who was eating his lunch nearby.
Luddy was waiting for his colleagues at Austin-Travis CountyEmergency Medical Services (ATCEMS) to do some ropes training when some peopleapproached him for help.

"They told Captain Luddy that a dog had fallen off acliff nearby and asked if he could help," ATCEMS said in a post onFacebook.
Luddy sprung into action to rescue the dog. "I grabbedmy med bag and ropes, and started running towards the scene," he said.?
"I called Medic 17 (who was on the way for training) and told them whatwas going on. I got to the top of the cliff and found the owner, who had beencalling to his dog franticly with no response."

Luddy rigged an anchor strap to a tree, attached a rappelline and safety line to the anchor and rappelled down the cliff face.

"Clinical Specialists A. Gastelum & S. Norton fromMedic 17 arrived on the scene and set up a haul system, in the case that itwould be needed," ATCEMS said.
Luddy made a leash out of the rescue ropes and found anaccessible trail to walk Stout up to reunite him with his owner.
