A luxury Lamborghini ended up in a lake after the driver apparently confused the accelerator and the brake pedals while putting the car into reverse.
The motorist had been driving through the Austrian town of Mondsee when he 'mixed up' the brake and accelerator pedals and drove his Lamborghini Hurac¨¢n supercar backwards into the lake, Daily Mail reported.?
Austrian police said the driver was travelling from Mondsee toward?Unterach am Attersee?with a friend when the accident occurred. The passenger got out of the car while the driver attempted to exit a parking lot that backed onto Mondsee Lake.??
In a press release, they said the driver ¡°must have mixed up the brake and accelerator pedals and drove backwards into the Mondsee.¡±??
As per the authorities, the vehicle sank about 15 meters ¡ª or 50 feet ¡ª?from the bank of the lake. Despite the sinking car, the driver was able to escape and swim back to land. They were later taken to a local hospital to treat their injuries.??
The rescue effort required five firefighters, a team of fire department divers, a tow truck and a?recovery crane. According to the fire service, the whole ordeal took three hours to remove the Hurac¨¢n from the lake.??
