Imagine not answering calls from work on your days off and coming to the office on Monday only to find your contract had been terminated and you'd been fired from your job. It's not the best feeling in the world, for sure. Something of the sort happened to one man who took to Reddit to share his ordeal and how it would affect his future job applications.
What this incident also highlights is how easily replaceable every single employee in any company is. Any talk of how valued you are as an employee is absolute BS. You're only valued as long as you fit a box and complete assigned tasks on time, and while that's not too much of an ask, it does make you think about the missing 'human' element in all this. Are we all machines for hire at the end of the day and nothing more?
Seeking advice: Just got a mail from HR manager that I was terminated for not picking up their calls after work hours.

In the post, user Nashid shared how he was fired from his job for not answering phone calls after work hours. Before he could call them back, he received an email from HR confirming he'd been terminated.?
"Hi, I work as a content executive for an Edtech. Like the title suggests, I recieved two calls from the HR team on Wednesday after 7:30 and Friday in the evening. Both days they called outside work hours and I got a mail yesterday that I was not reachable," he started by writing.
Admitting he hadn't called them back and how it could be misconstrued, he added that he did manage to inform him manager. "I know that I was also in the wrong for not calling them back. But I was in contact with my manager and I had explained this," he added.
He explained he was anyway planning to quit which is what made him wait for a call from his manager first. "I did not get a call back from them after Friday, and I get anxious about phone calls. One more thing to note is I was planning to put my papers, and that also was another reason I did not call back since I was waiting for my manager's response + talk to the office HR. But they were on leave for the past week so did not get a chance, and I had a talk about this with my manager on Tuesday," he wrote.
"So, today I get this mail from the HR manager (see the pic). Will this affect in anyway with future employers, since I'm actively looking for jobs. Should I be worried, or just take this opportunity as a break to help me look for a job peacefully."
