Two years ago, a heartless mother killed her three-year-old son and threw his body in a river so she could go on holiday. She was jailed. Recently, she filed an appeal in Croatia¡¯s highest court to have her sentence reduced, but that appeal has been rejected.?
33-year-old Chiara Pasic was convicted of the murder of her three-year-old son back in April 2018 and jailed for 33 years. Recently her lawyers launched an appeal after she believed her sentencing was unfair, reports The Sun.?
Chiara killed her three-year-old son Denis and threw his body in shallow waters in a harbour in the seafront city of Pula on the tip of Croatia¡¯s Istrian Peninsula.
In 2018, it was reported that Pasic showed no emotion when she was sentenced to 33 years in prison and two years in a psychiatric institution for killing Denis so that she could travel to Macedonia.
She had a 15-year-old female 'accomplice' who was sentenced to three years in a youth detention centre in Pozega in eastern Croatia for assisting Pasic.?It was the female teen who held a pillow over the toddler¡¯s face while the mother restrained his arms and feet.?The two then got rid of the body and Pasic called the police to report him as missing. She told the authorities that she last saw him in a nearby children¡¯s park.
The police however suspected the mother and after a few hours of questioning, she confessed to her crime and showed officers where she had dumped the body.
While rejecting the appeal recently the Supreme Court of the Republic of Croatia reportedly said that the ¡®defendant showed such cold-blooded planning, persistence and ruthlessness in committing the act that the previous sentence is justified¡¯.
According to local media, now she cannot appeal against the judgment of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Croatia.
In another case of cruelty,?a video of an Indiana mother slapping her barely one-year-old son has been going viral.?
The mother has now been arrested. According to Daily Mail, the woman is 21-year-old Hannah Winch, and in the video, she is hitting the 10-month-old boy who is later seen sprawled face-down on the floor of a home in the Peru area.
According to the report, a man believed to be the boy¡¯s father watches helplessly.?
Authorities did a welfare check last week around 8:15 pm with the Indiana Department of Child Services and found that the child wasn't injured. It is not known yet who made the call to the cops. Cases like these put ¡®parental love¡¯ in perspective and raises the question if children are actually safe in any kind of environment.?
