One man though wasn't as lucky. In a shocking incident, a British tourist was believed to have been eaten by a shark while on a vacation to the coast off Reunion Island, a French department in the Indian Ocean. He and his wife went to the island to celebrate her 40th birthday. The incident took place on November 2.?
He was attacked while he was snorkelling by himself in waters off the Reunion Island. According to The Daily Mail four sharks were later caught in that area. The victim is identified as Richard Martyn Turner from Edinburgh.?

The 44-year-old's death was confirmed by the judicial sources, days after his severed hand and forearm were found in the stomach of a tiger shark, which was almost 13-feet-long. But how did they figure out that it was Turner's hand? His wife identified his remains when she saw the wedding ring on the hand.?
According to The Daily Mail, DNA tests were also being carried out on the other remains that were found in the big fish' stomach.?
Despite four sharks being killed in the area where Turner went, it was described as 'safe' for the swimmers. The Hermitage Lagoon is known for its calm and composed shallow waters (less than 6ft) and some dense coral reef, which helps in keeping the sharks out.?

In another incident, a man named Frank O'Rourke, went to a bar after getting bitten by a shark while surfing at Jacksonville Beach. He was also seen fighting the shark in a video that came out. He was thrown off the surfboard by the shark.
¡°It was kind of panic, like, 'Did that just happen?'¡± Berger told ABC News. ¡°It kind of took him a couple seconds to gather himself and realise, like, 'Wow, I just got bit by a shark.' And then we all went into the beach.¡±
