Doctors come across surprising acts by all kinds of people at the hospital. Sometimes there's something stuck in the behind, and sometimes something in the stomach. And now, not to much surprise, here's what a woman did.
On November 29, a 21-year-old?Spanish woman named Heizea from Galdakao found herself in a hazardous predicament after attempting to extract a piece of turkey trapped in her windpipe with a?toothbrush.?
Heizea documented the frightening occurrence in a thorough report provided to Madrid Metropolitan, stating that she found herself in an alarming scenario while indulging in a snack owing to hunger.
In recounting the incident, she noted that her father's inability to assist stemmed from his confinement to a wheelchair due to a damaged Achilles tendon. In the face of an urgent need for action, Heizea took matters into her own hands and chose to use a toothbrush as a makeshift treatment.
"I thought I was suffocating. I couldn't breathe," she told Reuters.?
Heizea's desperation drove her to grab her eight-inch-long toothbrush in an attempt to remove the impediment. However, in an unexpected turn of events, the toothbrush slipped down her throat, leaving her stunned.?
"I tried to get it out, but I couldn't; it just went 'glub'; it sucked in, and there was nothing I could do." "I tried to hold it by the bristles, but once the obstruction was removed, it just sucked in," she continued.
Heizea's family rushed her to the hospital, where surgeons removed the toothbrush during a 40-minute anaesthesia surgery. Heizea felt no pain throughout the encounter, despite the presence of the brush inside her.?
