About a month ago, Elon Musk urged?a six-month?pause?in developing systems more powerful than OpenAI's newly launched GPT-4 in an open letter, citing potential risks to society. He had even gone on to say that AI (artificial intelligence) stresses him out.
But just like many other?u-turns?that the billionaire has taken on his own decisions and sayings in recent months, Musk has now gone in the opposite direction of this AI pause decision as well.
Showing confidence in Tesla, CEO Elon Musk said that the electric car maker would soon have its own ¡°ChatGPT sort of moment,¡± no later than next year. Musk also went on to say that Tesla¡¯s AI capabilities are better than those of other firms such as Microsoft and Alphabet.
Musk said, ¡°Tesla has tremendous capability in the real world. It is far ahead of anyone (other companies)¡±, as per the CNBC report.
ChatGPT models by OpenAI, which Musk founded along with other scientists and engineers, have taken the internet by storm in recent months this year, forcing big tech giants such as Alphabet to accelerate the development of similar large language models.?Musk added that he would be focusing especially on artificial intelligence at Tesla, which uses such technology for self-driving capabilities.
Musk also said that millions of Tesla cars would operate autonomously, growing from 3 million to 5 million and eventually 10 million.

Earlier yesterday, during a shareholder meeting, Tesla CEO Elon Musk issued a warning about the challenges facing the global economy. "Tesla is not immune to the global economic environment. I expect things to be difficult, just at a macroeconomic level, for at least the next 12 months," said the billionaire.??
Another u-turn Musk took was when he mentioned that Tesla would now advertise its vehicles. So far, Tesla has famously avoided paying for advertising, quite unlike its competitors. ¡°We¡¯ll try out a little advertising and see how it goes,¡± he said.
Musk also told the shareholders that Tesla's "full self-driving" software is getting close to being safer than human driving.??
In the meeting, Tesla shareholders also re-elected Musk and Chairwoman Robyn Denholm to the board. Elon Musk also cleared the air and denied the rumours of his stepping down as Tesla CEO. Earlier last week, Musk announced that he would step down as Twitter CEO and take over the role of CTO. He announced?Linda Yaccarino as Twitter's new CEO, and said he would take over within six weeks.
