'Thought It Was Cool', Zerodha Co-founder Nikhil Kamath Wanted To Adopt A Child At One Point
Zerodha co-founder Nikhil Kamath recently revealed that he doesnĄ¯t believe in having kids just for the sake of carrying on his legacy. During his podcast discussion, Kamath emphasized his reluctance to invest two decades of his life solely in the hope of receiving care from his offspring in old age.
However, there was a time when the billionaire was considering adoption. So much so, that he even conducted thorough research.?
During his candid chat on his podcast WTF, Kamath said, "At one point in life, I had a phase where I wanted to adopt a child. And I actually tried... I researched it."?

He noted that his research revealed that current regulations make it impossible for a single Indian man to adopt a child. Nikhil Kamath explained that he opted for adoption because he thought it would be "cool" to do so.
"Just like that. I thought it was cool at that time. See, most of the things we do (are) because we think they are cool, right?"
In the same episode, the 37-year-old billionaire mentioned that he doesn't have strong feelings about having children to carry on his "legacy." He expressed his reluctance to spend two decades of his life "babysitting," hoping that his children would treat him well when he's older.
"This is also partly why I don't have kids," Kamath said. "I'm going to ruin 18-20 years of my life babysitting this child and then if luck serves me right, the reverse will happen at some point. What if he says 'scr** you' at 18 and leaves anyway."

Kamath DoesnĄ¯t Believe In The Concept Of Leaving Behind A Legacy
When questioned about leaving behind a legacy, Kamath shared that he doesn't believe in the concept.
"I think we all feel that we are more important than we actually are... you are born and you die like every other animal on the planet and then you are gone and nobody remembers anybody," he said.
Kamath also said that it's vanity to have kids only to be remembered after death. "What's the point in being remembered (after death)? I feel like you should come, you should live well, you should be nice to the people you meet in your life," he said.
