Avengers: Endgame is one of the most highly anticipated cinematic releases of the year. With its fame it also propelled another agenda for Audi and its line of electric vehicles. With the Endgame the German auto company has decided to showcase its upcoming electric car lineup instead of the ones that it presently sells. Two Audi all-electric concepts namely the e-tron Sportback and the e -tron GT made their appearance in the hands of Tony Stark.
Avengers: Endgame took the cinema world by storm upon its release last week, thrashing all box-office records known to mankind and for good reasons. The final saga to a buildup of more than 11 years of superhero stories was one of the most highly anticipated cinematic releases of the year. And with its fame, it also propelled another agenda for one of the biggest car makers in the world. We are talking about Audi and its line of electric vehicles.
Audi has since long been a part of the Marvel universe, featuring in almost all of the Iron Man movies and even a few others, like the Captain America: Civil War in a rather cool chase sequence between Bucky and Black Panther. With the Endgame, the German auto company has decided to showcase its upcoming electric car lineup, instead of the ones that it presently sells.
Hence, two Audi all-electric concepts, namely the e-tron Sportback and the e-tron GT made their appearance in the hands of the playboy billionaire character Tony Stark. Loren Angelo, vice president of Marketing at Audi of America, commented on this:
¡°Since Tony Stark introduced the world to the iconic Audi R8 in 2008, Marvel fans have really embraced the brand. We¡¯re eager to introduce them now to the all-electric Audi e-tron SUV and expect an equally strong fan reaction to Tony Stark¡¯s new supercar the all-electric Audi e-tron GT concept.¡±

Tony Stark a.k.a. Robert Downey Jr. was also present at the unveil of the Audi e-tron GT concept this April. The renowned actor could be seen chatting with Audi Head of Design Marc Lichte about the design elements of the vehicle which made its debut in the Avengers: Endgame. You can check out the unveil here:
Some might question the product placement though, as the electric cars can be heard making an insane-horsepower gasoline engine-like noise in the sequences. As the electric cars are supposed to be silent in operation, this has made some laugh at their presentation by the two parties involved, Audi and Marvel. There is, however, a perfectly good explanation for this.
We had highlighted the one big problem with electric drivetrains - they make no noise whatsoever, making them inaudible to many pedestrians and cyclists and hence increasing the risk of a collision. To solve this, car makers have started adding gasoline engine noises to their electric vehicles at various levels of their acceleration. It looks like Audi has performed a similar job on the Audi e-trons featured in the movie.

These sounds are meant to ensure a better safety for others on the roads and have even been mandated by some governments across the world. Back in 2014, Europe Union passed a rule that all electric car makers will have to add artificial sounds to their vehicles and gave the makers a period of 5 years to comply with the rule.
This even resulted in multiple partnerships. Mercedes-AMG, for instance, collaborated with Linkin Park for the production of such artificial sounds for their vehicles. Now Audi has added such sounds to the two concepts, meaning as and when they make their way to the international markets, we can expect them to have a similar sound system in place. The question is, will that give you the same feeling as Tony Stark had in the movie? Or you would rather prefer them to be silent? Let us know in the comment section below.
