NIO has officially started the deliveries of its 2020 ES8 electric SUV. The EV comes as a flagship from NIOs smart electric vehicle range Considered as Chinas own Tesla NIO has managed to get into almost every aspect of electric vehicles since its inception in 2014.
NIO, China¡¯s electric car maker that was in the headlines recently for much trouble, seems to have overcome the tough times, now having officially started the deliveries of its 2020 ES8 electric SUV. The EV comes as a flagship from NIO¡¯s smart electric vehicle range.
Considered as China¡¯s own Tesla, NIO has managed to get into almost every aspect of electric vehicles since its inception in 2014. The ES8 now comes as a flagship EV by the company. With numbers like 580 km of extended range and 0 to 100kph in 4.9 seconds, it is easy to see how it proves itself as a solid competitor to the Tesla Model X. The acceleration for the Model X stood at 6 seconds before the recent performance upgrades.
As for the options on sale, NIO ES8 is available in six and seven-seat configurations. The electric SUV comes with a pair of electric motors, one on each axle, backed by a 100 kWh liquid-cooled battery pack. The novel motor setup is able to generate 400 W of power and 725 Nm of torque.
This also lets the e-SUV sprint at the acceleration mentioned above and offer five driving modes to the driver for any journey.
Apart from performance, NIO ES8 promises plush luxury too. It boasts of Nappa leather with microfibre headlining on the seats which are arranged in lounge seating style, complete with electric foot and backrest. This is complemented with 18 colour combinations in total along with ten ambient lighting colours. An 11.3-inch console dorns the centre alongside an HUD.
Priced at RMB 468,000 (Rs 49.5 lakh) for the starting variant and RMB 558,000 (Rs 59 lakh) for the Signature Edition, the 2020 ES8 comes as the third electric vehicle by NIO. Post production, it was first delivered in a ceremony held at NIO¡¯s Hefei Advanced Manufacturing Centre this week.
