How else can we make sure that noone else gets to spoil the suspense for us.

If today, someone asks Deep Thought - the supercomputer about the 'Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything', he would say that the question is - Kattappa ne Baahubali ko kyu maara?

But sadly we are not to answer that for you. We are here to talk about the man of the moment - Kattapa and his credentials to be the greatest slave warrior of cinema history. To know his backstory beforehand we delved into the prequel story which is written by Anand Neelkanthan. We could only get out hands on Book 1 of the trilogy but we learned these important things about Kattappa:

1) Kattappa is forever alone

Yes, his mother died when he was young, but he was really close to his brother Shivappa. His father Malyappa though never had time for either of them and was engrossed in his slave-work and he is Kattapa's role model. Kattapa has no friends and not even a pet.

2) In Kattappa¡¯s mind he was born a slave, slavery is his dharma and there¡¯s no other way!

Jeenaa yaaha, marnaa yahaa

Kattapa was brought up under the solemn code that his family serves the king of Mahishmati and nothing could alter this code; not his love for his only brother and not even his own death!

3) He is not gay, but he¡¯s got no time to chill with the ladies

Kattappa tries hard not to be attracted to beautiful women and he despises eunuchs and sexual perversion but he ends up in middle of such things seldom. But he got no time to chill. In the entire saga he literally gives and gets zero fucks (but book 2 and 3 may change that)

4) He¡¯s really the greatest warrior of his generation in Mahishmati

Many a time in his youth he beats many other warriors, even in groups, single-handedly. Even with major injuries he can fight off other trained warriors, he can fight in pitch dark and he can fight with any weapon or even without one. His tolerance of pain is also legendary!

5) Kattappa was the personal slave to Bhallaldev¡¯s father ¨C Bijjaladev

He was always treated worse than a dog yet he saved Bijjaldev¡¯s life twice and never got the credit.

6) Kattapa's ancestors were the real rulers of the region -Vaithalikas

His great great grandfather betrayed his clan and gave their secrets to the current ruling clan of Mahishmati. He is also the one who turned his family into one of slaves. Vaithalikas are the rebels we meet in Baahubali 1.

7) Kattappa was almost killed by his brother

Yes, Shivappa - his beloved brother tried to kill him. Of course, he failed.

8) Kattappa returned the favour, by almost killing him...

...and stopping his plan to assassinate the king. A paralysed Shivappa regrets messing with his anna.

9) Katappa knows every wrong done by his king, but he will still not move aka he's a bhakt!

He has great morals and a code but his conscience finds no value in front of his love for his country.
