Ryan Condal, Co-Showrunner of House of the Dragon Discusses Wig Challenges
The co-showrunner of the popular series House of the Dragon, Ryan Condal, recently discussed the challenges involved in creating the ideal hairstyle for each character in the Game of Thrones prequel.
In a statement, Ryan discussed the several wigs created for each role and how they'd be cleaned and styled in preparation for the next day's shooting.
As reported by IANS, Ryan said, ¡°I think we bought up all of the white hair that existed in Europe. We needed multiple wigs for each actor. For example, Matt Smith, as Daemon, had five different wigs because he has different haircuts as time passes in the story."
He further stated, ¡°I really do think that this is the most wigs anybody has ever used in a show like this. But they were fantastic the team making the wigs and styling the actors did an incredible job and most importantly, they look real."
Here's What Internet Had To Say About The 'Wigs' In HOTD
One thing I don't like about House Of The Dragon is that they clearly don't have black people in the hair department. The wigs for the black characters are crazy. So many cool textures and braids they could've gone for and they chose "Dry Cloud 9" and "Existential Dreadlocks". pic.twitter.com/6AFIIjdjAv

I think the only thing about House of the Dragon that bothers me every episode is how weird most of the white hair looks. Like it's obviously fake. Cosplayers have much better fake Targaryen hair lol. It's a nitpick, but it sort of demonstrates how good the show is

In the book canon of Fire & Blood Princess Rhaenys Targaryen has black hair from the genetics of her mother, Jocelyn Baratheon.

Baratheon genetics are extremely dominant and all have dark hair.

House of the Dragon needs to convince me that there isn¡¯t a modern haircut hidden under everyone¡¯s stage hair. It¡¯s not working so far. I don¡¯t believe anyone¡¯s hair is real.
