Jeethu Joseph opens up on plagiarism allegations against Mohanlal¡¯s Neru
Mohanlal and Priyamani in the main roles in Jeethu Joseph's Neru almost encountered difficulties on Wednesday. According to Live Law, a writer claimed plagiarism in a writ suit to the Kerala High Court, attempting to prevent the movie's release. Following the court's refusal to postpone release, the director addressed the controversy on social media.
Jeethu Joseph and coauthor Shanti Mayadevi were accused of plagiarism by a writer going by the name of Deepak Unni. The author stated in his Kerala High Court plea that he had spoken with Jeethu and Shanti in 2021 about the movie's script. He added that the two persuaded him to give them the 49-page script, saying they needed legal counsel to better comprehend the legalese in the courtroom scenario. The author claimed that when the trailer included the identical scenes he had written, he realized they had stolen his story. Nonetheless, the court declined to halt the movie's release, and the case was placed on hold for more review.
Jeethu released a statement on Facebook that read, ¡°The film Neru was made with utmost honesty, just like any other film I¡¯ve made. A controversy was created right before the film¡¯s release. As you may know, someone has come forth claiming rights to the story and has even approached the court.¡±
He added, ¡°The synopsis of what that individual wrote and the case files have been leaked online. I request the audience to watch the film and decide what's true or false for themselves.¡±
