The much-awaited second season of the action-comedy series will premiere on August 21, 2025, exclusively on Max (formerly HBO Max). Peacemaker Season 1 Recap

Peacemaker first arrived in 2022 as a spin-off from the film The Suicide Squad (2021), both written and directed by James Gunn. The show followed Christopher Smith, aka Peacemaker (Cena), a man who believes in peace at any cost, even if it means violence. Season 1 explored his past, his awkward attempts at forming real friendships, and his complicated relationship with his father.

Peacemaker joined a secret team assigned to stop an alien invasion called "Project Butterfly." The season ended with Peacemaker saving the world, but still haunted by the ghost of his father and unsure where he fits in.

Meet the cast and crew of Peacemaker Season 2

Other than John Cena, also coming back are Danielle Brooks as Leota Adebayo, Freddie Stroma as Vigilante, Jennifer Holland as Harcourt and Steve Agee as Economos. Joining them in Peacemaker Season 2 is Frank Grillo, who plays Rick Flag Sr. This role will also appear in another DC series, Creature Commandos, making the Peacemaker universe even more connected to the bigger DC plans.
