Tamil film Thangalaan will now finally make its OTT debut on Diwali. Yes, you read it right. The long-delayed film will finally be released by OTT platform Netflix on the occasion of the upcoming Hindu festival of lights. It's been almost two months since Thangalaan got released in theatres, and till date there has been no official confirmation about its OTT release date. But the latest reports suggest that Netflix has now actually scheduled the film¡¯s release for Diwali. Wondering who announced the date? In a recent discussion on X (*former Twitter), producer Gnanavel Raja said that the platform had actually scheduled the film¡¯s release for the festival as it wanted to capitalise on the festive period. So Thangalaan is now expected to be out on Netflix by October 31. The film will be available in multiple languages.
Thangalaan is a period action drama, and during its theatrical run it got a mix of reactions and earned around Rs. 75 crores globally, which is not that great of an earning. Now the makers are hopeful to at least impress the OTT audiences.
Plot
Thangalaan is about a tribal leader who sets out to stop an apparent sorceress after earning her wrath when assisting a British general in tracing gold in their village.
