Director Anil Sharma Says Sunny-Ameesha¡¯s Gadar Series Is Inspired By Ramayana And Mahabharata
Director Anil Sharma has revealed that his Sunny Deol-Ameesha Patel starrer Gadar series is inspired by Ramayana and Mahabharata.
The iconic Jodi of Tara Singh and Sakeena from Anil Sharma¡¯s Gadar are all set to return with the film¡¯s sequel. The trailer of the film was released recently and is receiving mixed reactions from the audiences. The film will arrive in theatres on 11th August and will clash against Akshay Kumar¡¯s OMG 2 at the box office.
Gadar 2¡¯s entire cast and crew attended the trailer launch event in Mumbai which was followed by a press conference.
During the interaction, one of the reporters cited Mahabharata¡¯s similarities with Sunny lifting a heavy cartwheel with Abhimanyu chakra and Sunny-Utkarsh at the war field with Lord Krishna and Arjun. Addressing the same, Anil confessed that he¡¯s highly inspired by Hindu epics and tries to drive inspiration from them.
He said, "Katha toh main Ramayan, Mahabharat se hi leta hu. Pichli film bhi Ramayan hi thi, Ram ko Sita ko lene ke liye Lanka mein aate hai. Yeh bhi dekhiye kya hota hai (I always take stories from Ramayan and Mahabharat. The prequel was also based on Ramayan, when Lord Ram has to bring back Goddess Sita from Lanka. At the trailer launch, Ameesha Patel who recently spoke against director Anil Sharma has now taken a U-turn. Patel said that she shares a father-daughter relationship with Anil. ¡°We fight, we block each other on WhatsApp, social media. But we are back. That¡¯s our relationship. That¡¯s what we share.¡±
Ameesha recalled what thoughts she went through when she was offered to play a mother at the peak of her career.
She shared, ¡°When Anil ji had narrated to me the story of the first Gadar, there were several people¨CI don¡¯t want to take names¨Cpopular names of the film industry, bigwigs from the industry, they said why would you do this role? I was working in a Salman Khan film, where I was a college girl, in an Ajay Devgn film, I was a college student, in both the films with Hrithik Roshan, I was a college student.¡±
¡°So, when this story was narrated to me and Kaho Na Pyaar Hai was yet to release, everyone told me I won¡¯t be able to do the role of a mother! I love challenges, I want to step out of my comfort zone and conquer them. I had faith, I knew my director was brilliant. I knew a love story so beautiful was never written and will not ever be written. I just had to say yes.¡±
