Sridevi and Boney Kapoor¡¯s love story
In an old interview, Boney confessed to seeing Sridevi for the first time in the 70s while shooting for a Tamil film. The duo later interacted when Sridevi was shooting for 1987¡¯s Mr India opposite Boney's younger brother Anil Kapoor. They started dating in the 90s and then got married in 1996. The couple welcomed Janhvi Kapoor on March 6, 1997, just a few days after Sridevi's film Judaai was released and Khushi Kapoor was born in 2000.
Boney has spoken fondly of Sridevi on several occasions since her death.
Speaking to Gulf News on Sridevi¡¯s death anniversary last year, Boney said, ¡°I am not looking for closure. I want her to be around me all the time. She is there in my thoughts and will remain in my thoughts all the time. There is not a single moment of the day where she is not with me. She may not be here physically, but she¡¯s there in my mind all the time and that keeps me going.¡±
A few days ago, Boney shared a post on his Instagram handle where he praised how Sridevi left an impression after a hiatus of 15 years from films with "a timeless, magical performance" in the movie. He also added that it was something "only Sri could do". He wrote, "10 years of English Vinglish :) To come back after a sabbatical of 15 years from films, with a timeless, magical performance that touched everyone's hearts - is something only Sri could do. This film will always remain special.¡± English Vinglish was directed by Gauri Shinde.
