Veteran actor Javed Khan Amrohi left for his heavenly abode on February 14th. The news of his death was confirmed by actor Akhilendra Mishra who acted alongside Javed in Lagaan. Mishra revealed that he stayed in touch with the demised actor through a WhatsApp group of the Indian People's Theatre Association.

¡°We were connected through an IPTA WhatsApp group. I came to know of his death on the same.¡±
Akhilendra further told Aaj Tak, ¡°He stayed in Mumbai with his family. He was not well for some time. I had a long association with him. We started our careers at the same time. We did many films together. We were also part of shows through IPTA. I last met him at the IPTA festival. He was lively. I considered him to be a storehouse of knowledge.¡±

Javed started his career as a theatre artist as a graduate of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII). Although not a mainstream poster man, Amrohi appeared in multiple pivotal roles in close to dozens of TV shows and over 150 films in a career spanning over 5 decades.

Javed¡¯s character of barber Karim in the TV show Nukkad was quite recognisable. A few of his other notable works included Salman and Aamir starrer Andaz Apna Apna, Shah Rukh Khan led Chak De India and Once Upon A Time In Mumbai. Javed also featured in both parts of Mahesh Bhatt's Sadak and the critically acclaimed 1988 TV series Mirza Ghalib.
Javed died of lung failure and his last rites were held at the Oshiwara Kabristan around 7.30 pm on 14th February. He is survived by a son and a daughter. Filmmaker Ramesh Talwar told PTI, ¡°He passed away at the hospital around 1 pm as both his lungs failed.¡± The veteran actor also starred in Hum Hain Rahi Pyaar Ke, Laadla, and Ishq.
Actress Shabana Azmi wrote on Twitter, ¡°So tragic to learn of Javed Khan Amrohi¡¯s demise. He was one of our finest actors of IPTA. Heartfelt condolences to family and friends.¡± Actor Danish Husain while mourning Javed's death tweeted, ¡°Gutted to hear about #JavedKhanAmrohi Bhai¡¯s demise. This seems to be a season of farewell. Condolences to his family, friends, colleagues @iptamumbai #Nukkadd #Lagaan, and so on and so forth.¡±
