Kareena was trying to explain why 'Laal Singh Chaddha' would be a new experience for the Indian audience since "many" would not have seen the original movie¡ªForrest Gump.
Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor are promoting their upcoming film 'Laal Singh Chaddha.' Amidst the collective call to boycott the movie on social media, the team of Laal Singh Chaddha has been trying to promote the movie, which took several years to be ready for the cinema-goers finally.
Recently, during an interview, Kareena Kapoor was talking about the film when she used several phrases to explain why the experience of 'Laal Singh Chaddha' could be new for fans.
Kareena Kapoor Khan was trying to convey that since "Forrest Gump" is an American movie, most Indian moviegoers haven't seen it. She added that for them, "Laal Singh Chaddha" will thus just be a story and not a Forrest Gump remake.
In an interview with News18, Kareena was trying to explain why 'Laal Singh Chaddha' would be a new experience for the Indian audience since "many" would not have seen the original movie¡ªForrest Gump.
However, Kareena went a bit too far when she used words like "elitist" and "classist." She is seen during the interview saying,
"No, because it¡¯s an original adaptation in a different language. Our language and our sentiments are very different from theirs also. So, we¡¯ve adapted it for our Indian screens, and I¡¯m sure people would enjoy it. But many people still haven¡¯t watched ¡®Forrest Gump¡¯¡the masses would not have seen. It is an elitist kind of classist film. So they (Indian audience) will see it for a story, not because it¡¯s a remake of ¡®Forrest Gump¡¯."
This part of Kareena's interview started doing rounds on the internet.
A Reddit thread dissected Kareena's words and schooled her for mindlessly using words. Some even joked that she must have memorized these 'fancy' words from Saif's dictionary.
