Munawar Faruqui is one of the most popular stand-up artists of the country. On YouTube, he has garnered more than 2.4 million subscribers with his comic acts.

He became a part of national headlines when he was arrested by police along with four others on the complaint filed by Eklavya Singh Gaud, who is the son of a BJP MP, for allegedly hurting religious sentiments by making indecent remarks against Hindu gods and goddesses at his comic show in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. Later on, he was granted bail by the Supreme Court.

The way Munawar was treated in jail was recently brought to light and the audience is praising him for how he bravely handled every hardship and emerged as a true winner. Recently, he talked about his days in jail and said, ¡°When I went to jail, I started writing my new comedy special, which was based on the arrest. From the time I reached the police station, these jokes had started coming to me. I was, in a very, very bad condition. Those were the worst days of my life, but at the same time I was observing everything around me, and was making notes, and jokes.¡±

Munawar also revealed in the show that he is going to write a comedy sketch on how he went to jail and got out and won¡¯t mention any religion or politics.

Previously on Lock Upp, Munawar revealed that his mother died by suicide as she drank acid. Munawar shared that her mother wasn¡¯t happy with her marriage and his father used to physically abuse her. Munawar¡¯s mother also took some loans from other people which she wasn¡¯t able to pay back on time even after many efforts but his father never cared for all these things. He gained a lot of support after this revelation and was even saved from being eliminated from the show.

Before this, he even revealed that he has a wife and a son and has been separated from her for over one and a half years and their matter is currently doing rounds in the court.
