For the unversed, Vikram Vedha is based on Indian folk tale Baital Pachisi. The story revolves around Police officer Vikram (played by R Madhavan in the original and Saif Ali Khan in the remake) who is tracking down a gangster Vedha (essayed by Vijay Sethupathi in the original and Hrithik Roshan in the remake) who tells him three stories and asks him what he would have done in those cases. This completely changes Vikram's perspective on good and evil.
The star cast of the film also includes Radhika Apte, Rohit Saraf and Sharib Hashmi amongst others.
Earlier, it was reported that the makers had approached Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan to play Vedha. While SRK had turned down the role for reasons best known to him, Aamir opted out of the project due to delay in filming due to Covid-19 lockdowns.
Hindi remake of Vikram Vedha is slated to be released on Sep 30. Both the films are helmed by Pushkar-Gayathri.
