Wajid Khan¡¯s Wife Alleges Her In-Laws Pressurize Her To Convert To Islam Even After His Death
¡°My dignity and self-respect did not permit me to bend backwards for him and his family, by converting to Islam. I was devastated, felt betrayed and was emotionally drained, but my children and I held on.¡±
Every story has two sides and one must not jump to conclusions by listening to one side of the story. Just a while ago, many people on the internet slammed Tanishq for its ad showing inter faith marriage where a Hindu girl is married in the Muslim family and together they were celebrating her godh-bharai.
Tanishq faced so much flak that they had to pull down their ad. Post that, many celebrity actresses came out in support and spoke about their interfaith relationships as. For instance, Mini Mathur who¡¯s married to filmmaker Kabir Khan, actor Zeeshan Ayyub¡¯s wife Rasika Agshe and Richa Chadha who¡¯s in relationship with Ali Fazal.
Now, there is another side to the story which points towards problems that occur in interfaith marriages. Late music composer Wajid Khan¡¯s wife Kamalrukh, who is a Parsi, spoke about how her in-laws were forcing her towards conversion after her marriage with Wajid. In fact, their relationship had almost resulted in a divorce as she had said no to Islamic conversion.
In her lengthy Instagram post Kamalrukh shares how she was devastated after she was forced to convert because theirs was a love marriage as they were childhood sweethearts,
¡°My dignity and self-respect did not permit me to bend backwards for him and his family, by converting to Islam. I was devastated, felt betrayed and was emotionally drained, but my children and I held on.¡±
She even mentions that she shared this post today as despite her husband¡¯s death she is till forced by his parents for the conversion, ¡°Today post his untimely death, the harassment from his family continues. I stand fighting for the rights and inheritance of my children which have been usurped by them. All this because of their hatred against me for not converting to Islam. Such deep rooted hatred that even death of a loved one could not move.¡±
She ended her post by writing, ¡°Religion should be a cause for celebration of differences not separation of families. All religions are the path to the divine. Live and let live should be the only religion we all practice¡±.
