Ayodhya Visit Nightmare: Actress Surbhi Scammed In Hotel Booking
Surbhi was planning a trip to the Ram temple in Ayodhya. However, while making the arrangements for her visit, she couldn't find a hotel. That is when she followed a relative's advice to stay at a well-known Dharamshala instead. She found a website that had the same name as the guest house she wanted to book, and she thought it was trustworthy.
She found the contact details on the website and called on that number. First, she asked for WhatsApp images of the guest house, which were sent to her promptly. She then decided to book the place. The man on the call gave her a GPay number using which she paid Rs 2500. "He asked for a security deposit, leading to another payment of the same amount. When I asked for the registration number, he suggested making a single payment instead of two, citing technical reasons. I asked him to reverse the payment so that I could transfer Rs 5,000 in one go," she told ETimes.
The man then made her speak to another person an accountant who shared a barcode with her. "I became suspicious when he deleted messages on WhatsApp while talking to me. Fortunately, I use GPay on another phone, and hence, he couldn't fleece more money," she said.
Surbhi Tiwari first reported this to local media who reached the guest house to discover that the number didn't belong to them. The website was a scam.
The actress has now filed a Police complaint against Versova Police Station in the same regard.
