Comedian Munawar Faruqui's show in Bangaluru on Friday was cancelled following a complaint filed by a Hindutva organisation.
According to reports, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA T Raja Singh was taken into preventive custody from his residence at Mangalhat along with few others by police on Friday night following the BJP MLA's threat to set fire at the venue of Munawar Faruqui's stand-up comedy show.
BJP MLA T Raja Singh, who is known for his strong Hindutva mindset has alleged that comedian Faruqui had insulted Hindu Gods through his performances in the past and that had even led to police cases.

Reportedly, Raja Singh said that instead of inviting someone who demeans and insults Hindu Gods, talented artistes from Telangana should be encouraged.
"As if the comedy circus of TRS govt run by a bunch of clowns in Telangana isn't enough, now they're bringing Munawar Faruqui," BJP chief Bandi Sanjay Kumar tweeted as he took a dig at the ruling TRS.
On the other hand, objecting to the programme, the BJP chief further questioned the message being given to Hindus by allowing this programme and said that Munawar Faruqui 'demeans Goddess Seetamma and Lord Rama in the name of comedy' and has called for boycott of the comedian's show.

"Boycott the show which mocks Hindu Gods," he asserted.
Meanwhile, Munawar Faruqui's performance ¡®Dongri to nowhere¡¯ is scheduled in Hyderabad today amid boycott calls from the BJP. The same show was cancelled by Bengaluru Police on Friday. However, the Hyderabad venue for Munawar Faruqui's comedy show has not been announced yet.
The Bangaluru show of Munawar Faruqui's was cancelled after Hindutva organisation called Jai Sri Ram Sena Sanghatan claimed that Munawar Faruqui's show 'Dongri to Nowhere' would hurt the religious sentiments of Hindus.
However, Munawar Faruqui claimed that it was cancelled because of his health issues. The comedian took to his Instagram account to share the news.
