Often Bullied For His Teeth, Darsheel Safary Says He Got 'Taare Zameen Par' Because Of Them
Darsheel Safary who is all set to make a comeback said that he was often bullied for his teeth and height and got Aamir Khan's Taare Zameen Par because of them.
"Jo dikhta hai humko lagta hai, hai¡Aur jo nahi dikhta humko lagta hai, nahi hai¡lekin kabhi kabhi jo dikhta hai, woh nahi hota¡aur jo nahi dikhta, woh hota hai"
A little boy called with his adorable antics won millions of hearts in Taare Zameen Par, a film that was released 15 years ago but stays with us even today.
Darsheel Safary was 10 years old at that time. With a notorious role and an awestruck performance, he stole our hearts as
Ishaan Awasthi. He essayed the role of a dyslexic kid whose strict parents were unaware of his daily struggle. From fellow students to teachers and even his own parents, everyone mocked him for his behaviour, unaware that he was suffering from dyslexia.
In real life too, Darsheel Safary was often bullied.
"I¡¯ve been made fun of for my height, for my teeth and everything. My teeth were like 1 kilometer out. It all happens for a reason. All that happened and then I got the film because of those teeth," he told Hindustan Times in an interview.
The little boy we saw in the movie is now 25 years old and all set to make comeback. He earlier said that he was in talks with a lot of filmmakers but the pandemic hit and everything went for a toss. Safary thought that he would be an established actor by the age of 25, but his plans were ruined.
Did you know Darsheel Safary was scared of Aamir Khan during TZP shooting?
"He was like a father figure on set. I was sh*t scared of him. (I knew) if I go slightly out of the way, I would get a shouting but I never got shouted at," he recently told The Quint in an interview.
Darsheel Safary had earlier told Etimes that he would love to work with Sara Ali Khan and Janhvi Kapoor. "I want to work with them. Who wouldn¡¯t? Janhvi and Sara are established names in the industry. I believe everyone gets his or her chance. Maybe in a couple of years, I will get mine, too."
Years later, he is all set to make a comeback with a film titled Capital A small a, which is releasing on Amazon miniTV on Nov 17.
