Mark Curry, a former rapper who was signed under Bad Boy Records, has claimed that P Diddy bought the silence of artists by returning the publishing rights to their music in exchange for NDAs. His statement came weeks after Diddy was arrested on multiple charges.
Sean "Diddy" Combs, also known as P Diddy and Puff Daddy, has been hit with a series of charges of sexual misconduct and harassment. The hip-hop mogul's arrest last month put his close pals, some of who also happen to be Hollywood A-listers, in a tough spot. A report has now suggested that Diddy may have brought his A-list friends' discretion by returning the rights to their music in exchange for NDAs.
P Diddy list: Rapper's Hollywood links
Just like Epstein's list, a list of many Hollywood bigwigs, who were regulars at P Diddy's freak-off parties, has been circulating on the internet. Since his arrest, many celebrities, including Megan Fox, Pink, and Usher, have cleared their social media histories, but no one has so far either been implicated or come out to address allegations against the Bad Boy Records founder.
Did P Diddy buy the silence of artists in exchange for music rights?
Amidst the speculations related to Diddy's high-profile connections, a former Bad Boy Records rapper has alleged that Diddy bought his A-listers artist friends' silence by returning the rights to their music in exchange for NDAs.
Mark Curry, a former rapper signed under Diddy's Bad Boy Records, joined The Daily Mail's Marjorie Hernandez for her weekly podcast, The Trial of Diddy, where he spoke about Diddy's celebrity links.
It's common knowledge that the record label held the rights to all the artist's music. However, there was a quick shift in pattern until two months before Diddy's first lawsuit was filed by his former girlfriend Cassie Ventura in November 2023. That September, Combs reportedly gave artists the publishing rights to their respective music. In the podcast, Curry claimed that the rapper had ulterior motives when he released the publishing rights to the artists. He alleged that the rapper wanted to cover his tracks by making the artists sign NDAs as he had already anticipated legal trouble following his separation from Cassie.
"He gave all of the artists back their publishing rights in exchange for an NDA not to talk about him. Because I think he had some kind of idea that this was coming down the pipeline. Tried to cover up his tracks real quick - it didn't work," Curry claimed.
Wanted to avoid Diddy: Curry
Sharing his daunting experience with Bad Boy Records, Mark Curry revealed that he left the label in 2005 after he was creatively and financially drained. Despite promises of a bright future, his debut album never saw the light of the day, and he didn't even make a penny from the singles he released with the label.
When the host asked him if he ever signed the NDA in exchange for his publishing rights, Curry said he wanted to avoid all things related to Diddy. He revealed that he last spoke to Diddy on September 23.
