Double Celebration For Konkona Sen Sharma, Bags Best Director & Best Actress At NYIFF 2017
Talent never goes unnoticed and there might be a mild delay but validation definitely comes! The same has happened with Bollywood actress and director Konkona Sen Sharma.

A PTI report claims that Konkona Sen Sharma has been named the best director for her directorial debut A Death In The Gunj and the best actress for Lipstick Under My Burkha at 2017's New York Indian Film Festival.

Presented by the Indo-American Arts Council, the film festival took place from April 30 to May 7. Konkona's directorial debut is a drama thriller that consists of a stellar cast including actors like Kalki Koechlin, Vikrant Massey, Jim Sarbh and Tanuja. Late actor Om Puri too had a part to play in Konkona's film.
The second award that landed in Konkona's kitty is for her Alankrita Shrivastava's Lipstick Under My Burkha, a film which explores women's sexuality.

Yes, the same film that had to go through a rough patch and courted a lot of controversies to get the Censor certificate in India.
Alankrita took to Twitter to congratulate Konkona and wrote,

Just to jog your memory a little, Konkona had also won two national awards - In 2003, she won the National Award for Best Actress for her role in Mr. and Mrs. Iyer and in 2008, she won an award for Omkara.

Apart from Konkona, K Kaladharan won the best actor for Malayalam film Ottayaal n Paatha (A Narrow Path) and Shubhashish Bhutiani's Mukti Bhawan was declared the best film at the 17th annual film extravaganza.
