So, CBFC once again invited outrage from people after it denied certification to the movie because it had women fantasizing about sex. CBFC touched new heights of absurdity by also stating that ¡°the story is lady oriented, their fantasy above life¡±, and has ¡°contanious [sic] sexual scenes¡±, along with ¡°audio pornography¡±.

While we thought that the movie, which has received innumerable accolades across the world including an entry at the next Golden Globe Awards, will never hit the screens in India, there comes some relief from the Film Certification Appellate Tribunal.

The FBAT has asked the CBFC to grant the movie an ¡®A¡¯ certificate after ¡°voluntary and some additional cuts and deletions.¡± However, at the same time, it clarified that these cuts should not affect the ¡°manner the projection and substance of the scene or in any manner affecting the basic film.¡±

Just like all of us, FBAT also found the censor board¡¯s demands absurd.
It said that there was no merit on the reasoning that the movie showed ¡°women in the film shown in bad light particularly targeting women of certain community which might hurt sentiments.¡± It clearly said that this can¡¯t be the basis for denying the certificate.
Not only that the FBAT also said that CBFC as well as the revising committee ¡°misdirected themselves in denying certification on the ground that the story of the film is women oriented.¡±
¡°The FCAT found that there was no violation of guidelines as neither the visuals nor the dialogues are contemptuous of racial, religious or other groups. There was no targeting of women of certain community or religion,¡± the order said.
Now, we are eagerly waiting for the film to get a release date!
