LGBTQ+ Short Film 'Sheer Qorma' Wins Best Film At India International Film Festival Boston
Starring Swara Bhasker, Divya Dutta and Shabana Azmi, the LGBTQ+ short movie Sheer Qorma has won the best film award at India International Film Festival Boston. Along with that, Shabana Azmi has won Best Leading Actor award for the film.
A short film that Swara Bhasker -- who also stars in the movie -- thinks will make the generation understand the sense of queer love, Sheer Qorma has added another feather to its loaded hat.
Also starring Divya Dutta and Shabana Azmi, the LGBTQ+ short movie has won the best film award at India International Film Festival Boston.
Along with that, Shabana Azmi has won the Best Leading Actor award for the film.
At the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM), Faraz Arif Ansari's Sheer Qorma was bestowed with an Equality in Cinema award.
Sheer Qorma, which is based on an LGBTQ+ theme and narrates the story of love and acceptance, had its world premiere at the BAFTA Qualifying Frameline: San Francisco International LGBTQ+ Film Festival.
An ecstatic Ansari shared with TOI, "It makes me so happy to know that along with Sheer Qorma winning Best Film at India International Film Festival Boston, Shabana Azmi ji has also bagged the award for Best Leading Actor at the festival for Sheer Qorma! I was so ecstatic when I broke the news to Shabana ji about her win and she was gracious as ever and thanked me for giving her Sheer Qorma. We are also nominated for Best Director, Best Leading Actor (Divya Dutta) & Best Supporting Actor (Swara Bhasker) at IIFFB. Fingers crossed and here¡¯s hoping we win"
