Was it an accident or a case of suicide? Malaika's Arora's father Anil Kuldip Mehta reportedly jumped off from the sixth floor of their apartment at Ayesha Manor in Bandra. Her mother Joyce Polycarp got to know about it when she saw his slippers in the living room. To find him, she went to the balcony where she heard a commotion and screams from their watchman. When she leaned down, she discovered what had happened.

The postmortem of Anil Kuldip Mehta was done at around 8 pm on September 11 at Bhabha Hospital of Mumbai. The report reveals that cause of his death was "multiple injuries", police sources told India Today TV. The last rites of the actress' father will be performed today at Santacruz.

Furthermore, insiders have revealed what Anil said in his last call to his daughters Malaika and Amrita. It is said that moments before his death he made a phone call to his daughters expressing feelings of despair. "I'm sick and tired," he told them.

A day before his death, on the night of September 10, Malaika and Amrita had both visited Ayesha Manor in Bandra, where Mehta along with their mother Joyce Polycarp lived. In one of the videos doing the rounds, Amrita could be seen waving her mother goodbye before stepping in her car. In the morning around 9 am, he jumped off from the apartment's balcony, thus ending his own life.

There are rumours of him suffering from depression. However, the speculations remain unconfirmed. Anil Mehta's funeral is scheduled to take place today. Many celebrities including the actress' ex-husband Arbaaz Khan, his wife Sshura Khan, Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan among others were seen arriving to pay their last respects.
