Mukesh Khanna slammed for making Ranveer Singh 'beg' for Shaktimaan role, sit for 2 hours at his office

After revealing he is making a comeback as India's first superhero Shaktimaan and sharing the first teaser, Mukesh Khanna who had earlier shown his resentment on Ranveer Singh playing the iconic role has now said that Singh begged him to let him play the role and even sat in his office for two and hours to convince him.

For the unversed, speculations were rife that Singh had been roped in to play the superhero in a movie triology, which was to be made on a budget of Rs 300 crores each. However, no official announcement on the same was made. As Khanna got to hear the grapevine, he lashed out at Singh and even suggested him to take up roles in other countries where he would get nude scenes, thus taking a dig at his nude photoshoot that was making a lot of buzz at that time.

"Sarva Shaktimaan is God," he said and added, "I have told the producers, that your competition is not with Spider-Man, Batman, Captain Planet. Shaktimaan is not just a superhero, he has also become a super teacher. Now, the actor who takes on the role should have the quality that when he speaks, people will listen. There are big actors, but their image comes in the middle."

When Khanna was asked if the rumours of him making Singh wait at his office for two and a half hours were true or not, he said, "Sir, first of all, I didn't make him wait for two and a half hours; he chose to sit there. He came to my office. We enjoyed his company. He is a terrific actor with amazing energy, but who will play Shaktimaan is something I will decide, not the actors. See, producers handle casting; actors don't cast producers. You can't just come to my office and say, 'I want to be Shaktimaan' - that's not allowed. But I respect it; he still has a lot of zeal and wants to play the role. But saying that he is a big actor doesn't matter. For Shaktimaan, we don't need a big or small actor; we need the right face," he said adding, "Why didn't Akshay Kumar look convincing in the role of Prithviraj Chauhan?"

Now, Mukesh Khanna is once again getting trolled for literally making Singh beg for the role when he didn't have to. They also think Singh can ace the role to perfection. "Bros ego is on the top of Burj Khalifa honestly Ranveer can pull off shaktiman very convincingly," one of them said. "This man proved 'you either die as a hero or live long enough to see yourself become a villain'", said another one. "The green shirt guy was holding his laugh the entire time," added another one.
