'Glad It Happened¡¯, Rajkummar Rao On Wife Patralekhaa Putting Sindoor On Him At Their Wedding
Actor Rajkummar Rao reveals why Patralekhaa put sindoor on him at their wedding.
Actor Rajkummar Rao, who recently left his fans shocked by sharing his early days of struggle, has opened up about a special moment from his fairytale wedding with Patralekhaa in Chandigarh last year.
The Stree actor, who tied the knot with his long time girlfriend has revealed why he decided to ask Patralekhaa to apply sindoor on his forehead during their wedding ceremony. Talking about the same during an interview with News18, the actor recalled that it was unplanned and impulsive.
The actor said, ¡°I didn¡¯t really read all the comments but I know a lot many people picked it up and a lot of articles were being written, in a good way. People appreciated that and it was something that was very impulsive. None of us planned it."
Rajkummar Rao, who has impressed fans with his acting in films such as Shahid and Newton said he's glad that Patralekhaa applied sindoor on his forehead as he believes in equality.
¡°I am somebody who really believes in equality and will never see somebody below me. We both are equal and that¡¯s how it should be. So, yeah, it was very impulsive and wasn¡¯t planned. I am glad it happened and I am hoping that somewhere it stuck people¡¯s hearts,¡± the Trapped actor added.
About their relationship, Rajkummar Rao and Patralekhaa started dating more than 10 years before they got married. Both have been co-stars in Hansal Mehta's 2014 film titled Citylights and had also featured in the web show Bose: Dead/Alive.
The two lovebirds broke gender stereotypes at their wedding, which grabbed much attention. From Patralekhaa getting down on her knees to propose Rajkummar Rao to applying sindoor at the mandap when the actor prompted her to, their wedding sets an example of new age couple marriages.
While Rajkummar Rao is known to be one of the most critically acclaimed actor in Bollywood, the actor recently revealed that moving to Mumbai for work was tough for him.
"There were times when I lived on one Parle-G ka packet a day with just Rs 18 in my bank account. Luckily, I had friends from film school who helped. But I never had a Plan B. I always wanted to become an actor,¡± Rajkummar Rao said.
On the work front, Rajkummar Rao is all set to be seen opposite Sanya Malhotra in the upcoming film HIT: The First Case, directed by Dr Sailesh Kolan.
