Ranbir Kapoor Gives Clarification On Brahmastra Box Office Figures Amid Kangana Ranaut's Attack
Actor Ranbir Kapoor has come out to defend Brahmastra's box office figure after Emergency actress Kangana Ranaut raised her doubt over it.
Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt's first onscreen collaboration 'Brahmastra' has been dubbed as a 'hit' as it minted over Rs. 300 crores at the worldwide box office collections. The film despite opening to mixed reactions managed to achieve this feat.
However, some are questioning Brahmastra's 'hit' status as the film has been made with a staggering budget of over Rs 400 crores, which is more than what it has earned so far.
Actress Kangana Ranaut took a dig at Brahmastra producer and her biggest Bollywood rival Karan Johar who she refers to as "the flagbearer of nepotism" for faking Brahmastra's box office numbers.
The 'Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi' actress even offered to personally interview him to understand why the filmmaker is only declaring the gross collection of Brahmastra and not the nett. She questioned, "how can a film can be called a hit when it costs Rs 650 crores?"
Now, Ranbir Kapoor has broken his silence over the figures related to Brahmastra's economics.
Speaking about the reported budget of the Ayan Mukerji directorial, Ranbir claimed that it is ¡®wrong¡¯ and went on to defend the film¡¯s hit status. He said that the budget is not only for one film but the whole 'Brahmastra' triology.
"These days, we are reading a lot where people are discussing the budget of the film. People are saying this much is the budget and this much is the recovery. But Brahmastra is unique being where the budget is not just for one film but for the whole trilogy," Ranbir Kapoor said while speaking to Dainik Bhaskar.
Ranbir Kapoor further stated that the team will be utilizing the assets for the entire trilogy.
"The assets we have created for the film, like the fire VFX or effects for other superpowers, they will be used in three films," Ranbir said quashing the discussed economics of the film.
"So, it¡¯s not like the figures floating around, whether it¡¯s hundred rupees or two hundred rupees, are correct. It¡¯s all wrong. The economics of this film is not like the economics of other films that have been made in our industry," the 'Sanju' actor said and added that they can easily dive into Brahmastra: Part Two and Brahmastra: Part Three.
Meanwhile, Ranbir Kapoor is all set to welcome his first child with his Brahmastra co-star and wife Alia Bhatt. The actors, who have been making headlines for their collaboration lately got married earlier this year.
Recently, Ranbir Kapoor shared that his relationship with Alia Bhatt cannot be compared to that of the fictional characters 'Shiva' and 'Isha' from Brahmastra. ¡°I boast a lot that I am a very independent person and I am detached but I am very dependent on Alia. I don¡¯t go to the bathroom or eat food without knowing where she is. It is very important for me that Alia stays near me," Ranbir told Navbharat Times.
