Rishi Kapoor Once Said Don Dawood Ibrahim Inspired Him, The Internet Reacts To His Old Video
An old video of Ranbir Kapoor's late father Rishi Kapoor saying that he was inspired by Dawood Ibrahim has resurfaced on the internet.
A video of Ranbir Kapoor's later father Rishi Kapoor speaking of meeting Dawood Ibrahim and having tea with the gangster has resurfaced on social media.
In the old video, Rishi Kapoor can be seen interacting with Rajdeep Serdesai from India Today wherein the latter asks the actor if he regrets his decision of accepting an invite from don Dawood Ibrahim to go an have tea with him in 1988.
To this Rishi Kapoor responded saying, "Certainly not, What is regretful about that?" and went on to share how he made acquaintance with the wanted terrorist from Mumbai's Dongri.
The 'Mulk' actor said that after he, his dear friend Bittu Anand, RD Burman and a few others landed in Dubai, an unknown person handed him a mobile phone saying, "Bhai Baat Karenge." The actor then went on to speak to Dawood and that's when the don invited him for tea.
"He invited me over for tea. I went for tea to his house thinking that there was nothing wrong he was just a fugitive, he has not done the menace what people claim he has done, even against my country," the actor said.
When Sardesai tells Rishi Kapoor that Dawood was a criminal even back then, the actor can be heard saying, "So what? I have met so many criminals in my life. Even I might have been a criminal in my own field. May be I have not committed a very serious crime, but I met him thinking that I would like to know his story. I am an actor, I played him in D-Day and I was sort of inspired by him playing that role."
"So, I went to his house, we had a couple of cups of tea together and I spoke with him in length for 3-4 hours," the actor said.

He feels guilty for buying an award but not for visiting and having food with a terrorist. Unapologetically defends Dawood. #BoycottbollywoodCompletely #BoycottBramhashtra #Urduwood. No wonder his son identifies as "big beef guy from Peshawar" https://t.co/34tgxEVOhY
