To Overcome His Shyness, Sanjay Dutt Started Doing Drugs And Became A 'Cooler Guy With Ladies'
Sanjay Dutt says she started doing drugs to overcome his shyness and impress women. He got so addicted that people started calling him Charsi. Here are other Bollywood stars who opened up on their drug addiction.
They say the world of Bollywood stars is quite ugly than what is shown to the public. Sushant Singh Rajput's death had brought forth the drug tales of many stars. Also, remember the video that went viral from Karan Johar's party - which led people to wonder if Deepika Padukone, Vicky Kaushal, Shakun Batra among others were doing drugs.
Not everyone has kept it hidden. Several Bollywood personalities have opened up about their drug and alcohol addiction. One of them is Sanjay Dutt.
About his drug addiction, Sanjay Dutt had once revealed, "There are no drugs in the world that I have not done. When my father took me to America (for rehab), they gave me a list (of drugs) and I ticked every drug on it, because I had taken all of them. The doctor told my dad, 'What kind of food do you eat in India? Going by the drugs he did, he should be dead by now!.'"
Even Sanjay Dutt's biopic had exposed this side of him.
Why did Sanjay Dutt start doing drugs? He wanted to overcome his shyness and look cool among women.
"I was very shy, especially with women, so I started it to look cool. You do it and you become a cooler guy with the ladies, you talk to them," he told YouTuber Ranveer Allahabadia.
He said that people on road started calling him Charsi.
"Ten years of my life I was in my room, or in the bathroom, and not interested in shoots. But this is what life is, and that¡¯s how everything changed. When I came back (from the rehab), people used to call me charsi. And I thought, galat hai yeh (this is wrong).
"People on the road are saying this. Kuch karna padega (I have to do something about it). So I started working out. I wanted to break though that. And then from charsi, it became a guy with swag and ¡®kya body hai¡¯".
Prateik Babbar, son of late actress Smita Patil and Raj Babbar, had also opened up about his addiction to drugs.
The actor confessed he started doing drugs at the age of 13. "My first real drug was a disturbed childhood. Constantly faced with internal dilemma, the voices in my head debating where I belong and who I am, drugs came disguised as a glitzy escape. As years went by, I got acquainted with the narcotic underbelly, which led me to my first run-in with drugs at the age of 13."
Ranbir Kapoor had also confessed he used to smoke weed.
"I used it again during Rockstar. This time as an acting tool. It was hard to get in the moment on stage with 300 bored junior artistes posing as a real audience. Pot made those moments feel real," he had said.
