SGPC Sends Notice To Kangana Over Her Remark On Elderly Lady, Demands 'Unconditional Apology'

She was called a "rotten apple from Himachal Pradesh" by Congress MP Ravnee Singh Bittu, warned by Mika Singh to not come in the way of Punjabis, schooled by Diljit Singh over facts and respect to elderly, criticised by Richa Chadha for her "bikau" comment, yet the trouble hasn't ended for Kangana Ranaut as of yet.

Now the actress has been served a legal notice urging her to apologise, failing which a legal action will be taken against her.

The notice has been served by Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) for addressing a Punjab elderly woman as a daily-wager.

She had compared the octogenarian woman, who belongs to a farmer family, with Bilkis dadi of Shaheen Bagh protest.

The SGPC, which is considered a mini-parliament of Sikh religious affairs, is now headed by Bibi Jagir Kaur, who got elected for the third time last time at the annual meeting of the SGPC general house held inside the Golden Temple complex in Amritsar.

The committee which has an annual budget of nearly Rs 1,200 crore had recently donated Rs 1 lakh each to the families of farmers who died while taking part in the ongoing protests, as per TOI.

Earlier, Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) had also sent a legal notice to Ranaut seeking an unconditional apology for "derogatory" tweets against farmers and activists.

"We have sent a legal notice to @KanganaTeam for her derogatory tweet calling the aged mother of a farmer as a woman available for Rs 100. Her tweets portray farmers protest as anti-national. We demand an unconditional apology from her for her insensitive remarks on farmers protest," Manjinder Singh Sirsa, president of DSGMC, said in a tweet.

The SGPC, which has control over Sikh religious affairs, manages gurdwaras in Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh, including the holiest of Sikh shrines Harmandir Sahib, popularly known as Golden Temple, in Amritsar.
