Shekhar Suman's character Nawab is drunk while he is travelling on a carriage with Manisha Koirala aka Mallikajaan. He said that the controversial scene was not even a part of the Sanjay Leela Bhansali's script for Heeramandi.
After shooting for the much-talked-about scene in Heeramandi, Shekhar Suman went home and told his wife that he had done something so bizarre that he couldn't even share with her. When she kept asking him, he told her he wouldn't even be able to explain to her what he had done. " I don't think so any other actor in the world has done a scene like that," he said.
Shekhar Suman talks about the carriage scene in Heeramandi
In the controversial scene, Shekhar Suman's character Nawab is drunk while he is travelling on a carriage with Manisha Koirala aka Mallikajaan. He is so drunk that he is out of his mind. He makes a move on her without noticing where she is sitting. She turns to the opposite side and begins to hump in the air.
He did the scene in just one take and Bhansali was so impressed that he exclaimed "Magnificent". Suman said that the technicians were relieved after the scene. They came and thanked him for doing it in one go, or else, it would have gone on and on for even seven hours, considering Bhansali is a perfectionist.

The scene wasn't even part of the script!
Shekhar Suman then said that scene wasn't originally a part of Heeramandi script. He was just supposed to pee out of the carriage. However, right before the shoot, Bhansali came to him and asked him if was open to do the oral sex scene. "Bhansali wanted the nawab to turn around, and get fellatio mid-air, thinking that Mallikajaan is sitting on that side. And he¡¯s convinced. It was a strange interpretation, and it hasn¡¯t been done by anybody before, somebody having sex mid-air. He said, 'I'm fine if you say no, if you find it too bizarre'", Suman told Zoom TV.
"But, I told him that this is very challenging, different, and bizarre. So, I want to do it," the actor told Filmibeat in another interview.
