10 Facts About 'Spider-Man: No Way Home' That Will Make You Admire The Efforts Behind The Film

Spider-Man No Way Home is setting records one after the other. The film as of now has minted USD 1.05 billion globally, thus making it the highest earner of the pandemic.

Despite the rise in the cases of Omicron, the frenzy around the film refuses to die down. If you have watched the film, here are some behind-the-scenes little known facts about the Tom Holland-starrer movie that will make you go whoa!

1. Tom Holland was asked to wear a wig for the film.

Before Spider-Man, Holland was shooting for Uncharted for which he had to keep his hair short. When he started filming for the Marvel film, the makers asked him to wear a wig, but he put his foot down and refused to do so. "I was like, 'I'm not fucking wearing that wig. I'm going to have shorter hair and you're going to have to deal with it."

2. Tom Holland thought the film was over-ambitious and Marvel won't be able to pull it off.

He was blown away when he first heard the idea of Spider-Man No Way Home. He didn't think Marvel Studios could pull it off. "I was very excited. I thought it was a really cool idea. In all honesty, I didn't think it was something that they could pull off," he told Screen Rant.

3. Holland and Dafoe collapsed on set after they shot for the intense fight scene between their characters.

It takes a physical toll on actors to play superheroes on the big screen. Proving just that is a scene in which Willem Dafoe and Tom Holland were supposed to shoot for a fight scene between their characters, post which they collapsed. "I remember on the last day of shooting that fight scene when Jon said cut, Willem and I both just collapsed to the floor because we were exhausted and we just had given him everything. I remember just chugging Red Bulls to try and keep my energy going," Holland had said.

4. Tom Holland's younger brother Harry Holland was supposed to be in the movie.

He even shot for a scene, but it was later chopped out. Harry had previously portrayed a drug dealer in Holland's 2021 movie Cherry. He was supposed to play a similar role, of a burglar, in this one.

5. Holland was so emotional shooting for the film that he would ask Zendaya and Batalon to visit him on sets even when they were not shooting.

He said, "That one day that we can't talk about, when you guys came in, it made me feel very comfortable. It was like you were my cheerleaders."

6. Producers convinced the actors to return without letting them know the script.

To keep the spoilers intact, especially when Holland is known to accidentally spoil plotlines, the producers convinced Andrew Garfield, Tobey Maguire and other villains to agree to return without having read the script. Only Willem Dafoe knew about his role.

7. The secret why Electro looks so different in the film.

Another interesting fact about Spider-Man No Way Home is that Electro got a brand new look in the movie. When Sony producer Pascal lured Jamie Foxx to get on board, she told him his character won't be blue in this one. Hence, Electro also has a very different human look in No Way Home. "[Producer] Amy Pascal, who's been so supportive of my career, brought it up to me and I was like, 'Man, oh yeah, I want to be in there.' And the fact that I¡¯m coming to this new universe and I look different, and the fact that they were able to craft something that was slick, simplified, but cool," he said.

8. Marisa Tomei (Aunt May) spoiled the ending of the film for her therapists.

As therapists are bound by doctor/patient confidentiality, and Tomei spoiled the ending for her therapists because she was unable to handle the stress of keeping the spoilers to herself.

9. Tom Holland pulled a prank involving lube on the producers.

As the movie was shot during the pandemic, the cast and the crew were constantly using hand sanitizers. Holland, who used the lube to fix his Spidey suit, made one of the producers believe that the bottle of lube was hand sanitizer. He ended up rubbing lube on his hand. He pulled off the same prank with boom operator too.

10. Jamie Foxx hosted a dance party on set, but Zendaya and Holland weren't invited.

The actress said in an interview that she would go to the sets everyday until one day the producers told her, "Hey, just don't come for a couple of days because Jon's a little bit behind. We don't want any distraction." She added that she was never distracting anyone and was the quiet one in the corner. "So I do come back to set one day, just to see what's going on. I walk in ¡ª the producers, the actors, Jamie has started a party. And I said, 'So I wasn't allowed to come to work because there was a distraction. And then I come in and everybody's having a dance party? And I wasn't invited?" Tom Holland added, "Yeah, that was rude, I wasn't even invited, and I was Spider-Man in the 'Spider-Man' movie."
