Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri Slams 'Urban Naxals' Amid Raging Controversy Over National Emblem
Amid the raging controversy over angry lions in national emblem on parliament's new building, Vivek Agnihotri has slammed the urban naxals on Twitter.
Amid the raging controversy surrounding the National Emblem that Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled on Parliament's new building, filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri has shared his two cents. He referred to those opposing it has "urban Naxals" and said that they can be fooled by just changing the angle.
The National Emblem controversy
After the National Emblem was unveiled on Parliament's new building, the Opposition came down heavily upon BJP alleging that they have distorted it by replacing the "graceful and regally confident" Ashokan lions with the ones that have menacing and aggressive posture. They sought immediate change.
BJP, on the other side, clarified that the emblem was the exact replica of the one in Sarnath.
Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri whose ministry has been tasked with constructing the new parliamentary building said, "One needs to appreciate the impact of angle, height & scale when comparing the two structures.
If one looks at the Sarnath emblem from below it would look as calm or angry as the one being discussed."
If an exact replica of the original were to be placed on the new building, it would barely be visible beyond the peripheral rail.

The 'experts' should also know that the original placed in Sarnath is at ground level while the new emblem is at a height of 33 mtrs from ground. pic.twitter.com/JLxMMMAq80
If the Sarnath emblem was to be scaled up or the emblem on the new Parliament building is reduced to that size there would not be any difference.

BJP chief spokesperson and Rajya Sabha member Anil Baluni slammed the Opposition for the row.
He said that the Opposition is venting its frustration over India creating its own Parliament building under Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government, thus replacing the one created by the British over 150 years ago.
"The opposition is totally due to political reasons. Opposition parties want to target Modi for one reason or another. It is just a conspiracy to vitiate the atmosphere by misleading people," he in a statement.
He added that the national emblem over the Parliament building is 6.5 metre high, which is almost three times the one in Sarnath.
